Casamari Abbey. Casamari Abbey, built in 1203, is located in the territory of Veroli, and is an important historical, cultural and spiritual Lazio. Over time has become home to various activities, engaging the monks, who run the pharmacy, the liquor, the restoration of books, the library and the archaeological museum.

Montecassino Abbey. The Abbey of Monte Cassino was founded by St. Benedict about the year 529 AD. Destroyed several times in the past and always rebuilt, it was the subject of a fierce bombardment during the Second World War that led to the destruction of the monastery.

Fossanova Abbey. It is the finest example of a Cistercian abbey, and of the Burgundian Early Gothic style, in Italy, and dates from the end of the 12th to the end of the 13th century. The church (1187-1208) is closely similar to that of Casamari and also of the great church at Citeaux. The nave at Fossanova dates from 1187 and the church was consecrated in 1208. The other conventual buildings also are noteworthy.

Trisulti Abbey. Surrounded by old forests lies this famous and magnificent Carthusian monastery, founded in 1204 by Pope Innocent III. From 1208 he was entrusted to the Carthusian monks. In 1947 they were replaced by the current Cistercians. Inside you can visit the Church with valuable works of art and the old pharmacy (XVII sec.). La Certosa is a National Monument and also contains a rich State Library with 25,000 volumes.
