Pico, one of the most beautiful and authentic villages of Lazio, is in Ciociaria at the foot of the Natural Park of Aurunci Mountains, immersed in a rich landscape of hills, with its olive trees and grapevines. It rises around the fortress and offers visitors the Medieval Castle (XI century), the Church of S. Anthony (XVI century), the Church of Santa Marina (XI century), the Church of St. Rocco (XVI century), the Church of Santa Maria in Campo (XI century). Pico is the birthplace of the writer Tommaso Landolfi (1908-1979), considered among the most important italian writers of the 20th century. In the historic center is his birthplace, where he wrote many of his works. In the public library, are stored books and other material on his life.
Thanks to its strategic location in the area, Pico is located in the center of many tourist attractions and natural wonders that are within a distance ranging from 15 to 40-50 km:
- the discovery of the Villages of Ciociaria;
- the abbeys tour (Montecassino, Trisulti Casamari Fossanova);
- trekking, mountain biking, horseback riding trails in the Natural Park of Monti Aurunci, particularly rich in terms of flora and fauna;
- the beautiful Pastena and Collepardo caves;
- the Pontina coast (Sperlonga, Terracina, Gaeta);
- food and wines tasting, such as the wine tour in the land of Cesanese wine.
In the shops of Pico you can buy excellent local produce, such as the famous Marzolino (goat cheese) or the famous sausages, olives and olive oil of our land, jams, honey and other specialties.
